A while back we were kindly sent a gift box from the lovely people over at Bookawoo. Bookawoo is a monthly subscription box of books that are age appropriate to your child. There is a different theme of books each month. I selected the girl box for my daughter who is 6 years old and has a big interest in reading.

The box came addressed to her, which she loved, made her feel so grown up. It also had personalised message inside the box which was well packaged so nothing could get damaged. It also came with a sheet of personalised stickers (which she took off with before i could get a photo of them!) a bookmark with her name on and a pretty girly pencil which i thought was a nice touch.

The books she recieved were perfect for her age and you can tell that a lot of thought goes into selecting the books for the age of the child.

She recieved three books by Enid Blyton, which i was so excited about as i can remember reading Enid Blyton’s books when i was young and i loved them. I loved getting lost in the stories and she’s the very same. She loves to use her imagination and i prefer her reading than being stuck to a game console 24/7. The three she got were The Enchanted Wood, The Folk of the Faraway Tree and The Magic Faraway Tree. She has one of these finished already and is more than halfway through her second one.

The next book is ‘How to Write a Story’ by Simon  Cheshire. She adored this book and it goes very well with the Enid Blyton books as they set the tone to let her imagination run wild with her own story and she loves filling this book in.

Finally, the last 2 books were these Oxford First Dictionary and First Thesaurus. Both my daughter and my 4 year old son adored these. It kept them occupied for hours TOGETHER!!! These two never get on together so to see both of them sitting together going through these books to me was fascinating! It’s amazing what something as simple as a book can do. We have loved trying these out and it’s such a great alternative to giving toys or sweets.
